Less waste more beauty
This project started taking shape in 2015 when I first walked into a bead shop in Bali, where they were selling beads made out of recycled glass. I loved the thought of the possible story carried in such a small bead and the history of it.
In the same time, working with a tailor on a parallel project, I have come across silk leftover fabric which was usually thrown away. I got excited at the idea of combining the two; the hardness of the glass and the softness of the silk, both strong materials, coming together in a beautiful accessory, as a symbol of a second chance, a second life.
When I choose my beads I go first for the color, I choose what calls my attention. The colors I use are intense, alive and catchy. I also like making unusual color combinations, not easy for everyone to wear, but for sure easy for everyone to notice.
I don’t have in mind from before what I want the collection to look like. I just purchase my materials based on what I am attracted to and challenge myself to use them in the most harmonious way and create one of a kind pieces.
